Legacy Scholarship

Scholarship Philosophy

Contractors For a Cause believes that helping local students realize a career in and/or affiliated in the field of construction industry (including electric, mechanical, architecture, engineering, design, etc.) through continued education and/or journeyman ship, will assist them to further develop trade knowledge and skills. We hope that these skills will not only benefit the individual, but will additionally benefit our community service need for the future. Recipients of the Legacy Scholarship, that proceed to attain an accredited education and field expertise in their chosen field of construction, have CFAC's continued commitment to assist them with career opportunities in the construction industry.

(2) Two scholarships of $1,500 each will be awarded. The purpose of these scholarships is to recognize two local high school graduating seniors, planning to pursue a career in, or one affiliated with, the field of construction. Indian River High School students can contact Counselor Sonya Purcell and Sussex Technical High School Counselor Greg Hockman.

All candidates must provide: a complete application and an essay or oral presentation from which a winner will be selected.

Essay or Oral presentation telling the selection committee about the applicant and their reasons for pursuing a career in the construction industry. Applicants may write or speak about academic accomplishments, extracurricular activities, volunteer work, work experience, and financial need.

Guidelines:

Essay
Must be maximum 600 typewritten words in a 12 font word processing format, double spaced page(s) and must be numbered. No personal identification on any page of essay.

Oral Presentation
Announced prior to April 28, 2012. Must be 10 minutes long. Will be held May 1, 2012 in the Miranda & Hardt Offices located at the Ocean View address below.

Deadline:

Application and Essay must be e-mail dated or postmarked by April 28, 2012. Application and/or Oral presentation to be given at 5:30 on May 1, 2012. All essays submitted become the property of Contractors For A Cause (CFAC). CFAC may publish information about, photos of and all or parts of the essay submitted in any media.
